Ayesha is an engaging, experienced and popular trainer delivering Deaf Awareness workshops for businesses and organisations. As a Deaf person from birth, and mum to two hearing (CODA) children, Ayesha combines personal lived experience with a wealth of knowledge
Training can be tailored in content and length to meet your organisational needs and budget, but our gold standard training would be a full day and would include:
- An understanding of the different types and levels of D/deafness and hearing loss
- An understanding of the different ways that D/deaf people may communicate and why these might be chosen
- An understanding of how to work with different communication methods
- An understanding of the assistive technologies that D/deaf people may use
- A basic understanding of Deaf Culture
- An understanding of audism and how to avoid this
- An understanding of the purpose of interpreters, lipspeakers and translators, and helpful tips for when you are working with them
- A basic introduction to British Sign Language such as the alphabet, greetings etc
