Learn British Sign Language

Heart of BSL offers a range of courses for individuals who want to learn to sign, or improve their skills. We are a Signature registered and approved centre, able to offer accredited qualifications.

If you would like to discuss any course before enrolling then please do not hesitate to contact us. Please note that at the current time our Signature registered name is still Ayesha Communications, but this will be updated soon.

For those who can sign but do not have any formal qualification, we welcome you to get in touch and book a skill assessment. We will arrange a mutually suitable time over Zoom or in person (depending on individual circumstances) and one of our qualified tutors will assess your productive and receptive signing skills. We can then recommend which level you are currently signing at and which course you need to enrol on. There is a charge for this assessment, but this is then discounted from the course fee if you enrol to study with us.

Heart of BSL is passionate about inclusion, and will make all reasonable adjustments to support learners to achieve accredited qualifications. BSL competence standards set by Signature state that you must have sufficient sight, manual dexterity, and facial and body movement to produce and receive BSL. This is because British Sign Language is a unique visual language that involves facial expressions, hand movements, and gestures. If you have a disability that prevents you from any of this, please get in touch as you may still be able to learn and receive a non-accredited certificate of achievement at a reduced cost.

Our current courses for BSL learners include all of the following. Click on a course name to learn more about it.
